Recognizing the Misperceptions

Updated: Mar 7, 2022

Action Research I was amazed at how much I can learn every day, reading Craig Myrtle's book, "Action Research: Improving Schools and Empowering Educators," the more I read I find more ways to direct my way of doing things to a more effective way.

I consider that between the four stages.

  1. The Planning Stage

  2. The Acting Stage

  3. The Developing Stage

  4. The reflecting Stage

Stage 1 will be the most difficult because it will not have enough data or be clear about students' needs. For this reason, the planning stage will be very general and helpful to all students that I will consider can have in the classes. To carry out the research, the most difficult will be stage 1. Identifying and limiting the topic and Stage 2. Gathering information again because all information to start the study does not cover the students' needs. After completing all the stages and presenting the project, the most specific action is to analyze data to be the most accurate possible. Therefore, it has been significant during the other classes to learn how to gather data and know who specifically it is forward. As an educator, and when I conduct research, the whole process gives me tools to change and look for better techniques that make me a better educator. However, it is a cycle that finally permits me to empower my students and me. Traditional research means to an end - the conclusion. On the other hand, action research is a process of looking for ways to improve the specific situation of the students. Thus, teachers may collect statistics, but there is no research point.
