Creating a Culture of Helpfulness & Growth Mindset

Updated: Dec 11, 2021

"Yet" quick word "Yet" is a short word with a fairly broad definition and interpretation. When I think of this quick word, it's just for an immediate response. However, watching the video, we can understand the broad meanings of this work, "Yet" means being on the way to achieve something. In this case, it will be learning, but it is on the way, overcoming obstacles "Not yet" because it is improvising and accepting changes, assuming challenges. In addition to this adopting the growth mindset changes the way you learn, and once you adopt a growth mindset, accept to the learners how they think differently; they have other skills, IQ, and characteristics to learn.

Nowadays, Social Capital is more resilient and robust because they need to compete with others using their creativity to redefine the consumption of leadership who are not the only ones making decisions or driving projects. Now, all team members have participation and voice. Learners need to work together to grow as a team. In this context, teachers will create material to help learners using previous data to use in the best way with small group learners but look for those struggling to learn. It is important to think and understand that we have two types of learners and no less intelligent; they have different methods or skills and time to learn, this is seen in the comparison made in the graph of Nigel Holmes as well as considering the growth mindset can change the acceptance of feedback while I was watching the videos, I ultimately agreed with Carol Dweck's concept about rewards, which talks about that we can not grow learners with the idea of always being rewarded. Learners and teachers need to understand the concept of responsibility and be focused on using strategies and perseverance to raise kids without rewards. The opportunity to teach to these with a growth mindset is unlimited, and the only concern shouldn't be the grades. Learners need to know that making mistakes is not bad; since making these, they can see what was wrong in finding the correct answer and let them experience how to solve problems in daily life. Resources to teach "growth mindset" are very wide. It is crucial to motivate curiosity in learners and not rush time; while less time is used in each activity, children will feel less pressure and more freedom. Depending on the learners' age, the teacher will use google slides, an interactive notebook; also use programs as learning A-Z as literacy help. Students can go in their own time; a teacher can get data about the readers' progress and move these forward. For math books, as Envision permits learners to watch videos and learn in their own time. According to the graphic by Nigel Homes, mindset is the talent that people have to think; she describes fixed mindset as an innate ability, which is unchangeable. While a growth mindset permits improvement through practice, it also encourages making mistakes allowing learning to strengthen knowledge. This system uses new models, making it easier to improve with minimal effort. A fixed mindset finds obstacles like time to give up; meanwhile, with a growth mindset, see the challenges to change, experiment, and solve problems. Taking the risk allows you to innovate and determine how far you want to go or how you want to go. Nelly Roldan
