The world is facing a crucial moment that taught us how important it is to offer our students the best option to grow their mindset. However, it is a challenge to make them understand that they are the only ones who can fight day by day and overcome the challenges they encounter by appropriating their learning and developing as independent beings.
The pandemic brought us the most significant learning when we told our students how bad it was to spend much time in front of a computer or an iPad and that they did not learn anything, and we never teach them truly authentic learning through these devices. Overnight this changed, and students had to spend hours in front of these devices with great difficulty because they did not know their proper use and that devices were not just to play, watch videos. Still, devices had significant use with authentic learning tools, and students had to learn them by force. https://youtu.be/lby4-CQhIvI
That is why now it is vital to teach the technology used correctly and prepare our students for the uncertain future that people live in every day. So may they learn to face adversity and to enjoy their achievements.
I have seen that technology should be used and appreciated as a great resource that makes life easier for us and helps us live at today's pace. Traditional teaching models have been and can continue to be adapted to technology, forming a good bond that benefits students and teachers.
The most challenging part of taking ownership of COVA is creating an adequate teaching method that covers most of the aspects necessary for most, if not all, in a class to achieve the objectives. When I think of the reference to the authentic learning part, it makes me doubt a lot because there is so much already created that becoming authentic is not easy. I want to be an authentic innovator, but I would like to learn how to use the resources already created to use them correctly and appropriately for student learning. I feel extremely comfortable using resource programs that amuse and facilitate teaching by making classes fun places. Students have fun when they are learning, thus avoiding the traumas and frustrations that students feel when they do not understand any learning area. In my experience, fun classrooms, even though students have a lot of work and many activities, become a challenge and a special place for students. I like teaching with videos and interactive media where children's minds are constantly challenged.
